Day Three: Meeting with Elizabeth Hawley; Gear Preparation Today, after a quick breakfast with Mario and Paola, we met with Elizabeth Hawley to go over the details of the rescues on Manaslu in the spring. Once this was done, we headed over to Parajuli’s office to sort out our gear, pay for the logistics, and repack everything for Chinese customs which we heard is confiscating any meat or cheese (of which we probably have 30kg’s) from expeditions crossing the border from Kodari to Zhangmu. After this, we headed back to Kathmandu and promptly ordered a cold Everest beer from the Northfield café in Thamel. We wandered around Thamel for a few hours, had dinner at the Third Eye Restaurant then headed to Tom and Jerry’s, Full Moon, Sam’s Bar and others (the names of which escape me). |
