Day Twenty-five: Major Stomach Problems; Carry to Camp I Postponed

Today, after not sleeping at all thanks to vomiting at least seven times overnight, I was forced to postpone my carry to Camp I and rest in Base Camp. I stayed in my tent through breakfast and managed to get a few hours of sleep. I finally decided to head to the mess tent and finish drinking my disgusting electrolyte replacement rice-syrup based drink. Hugues was trying to figure out how to transfer his video files off his camcorder without the software to read them (they’re not AVI or any other standard video file type). We finally decided to just copy the files off of the card and leave them in comparable file folder structures until he returned to France, where he could install the drivers and view and edit the files. After this was sorted, we had lunch with Gerard and Mark from the Norit Expedition and afterwards, I returned to my tent to continue to sleep. I slept for another five hours, then decided to come down for dinner (although I couldn’t really take any food as my stomach was still not very stable). I went to bed around 8:00pm and figured that since I hadn’t gotten rehydrated like I had planned, I would have to continue my recovery in base camp tomorrow as well.
