Dispatch Fifteen: June 24th, 2007

Day Fifteen: Rest Day At Broad Peak Base Camp

Today we woke up relatively late (7:00am) and had a leisurely breakfast. We used the rest day wisely, organizing gear, optimizing power systems, having much needed showers, etc. Badia and Mauricio helped me get my load for my carry to camp I ready, which added up to weigh 27 kilo’s. I was planning on bringing up my tent, sleeping bag, down pants, overboots, stove, four cans of fuel, cooking pots, pickets, clothing, food, etc. After that was finished, I finally managed to get my solar array to pump out enough volts to charge my laptop a little. We finally unpacked some of our “supplementary” base camp food (as what is supplied in Pakistan is never really enough) and got to eating :) We discussed our strategies for acclimatizing over a long dinner and got to bed.
