Expedition Leader: Nicholas Rice (USA) Nicholas Rice was born in Hermosa Beach, California in 1985. He has been climbing for twelve years focusing mainly on alpine and rock. Nick climbed his first 8000 meter peak in 2004, Cho Oyu in Tibet, ranked 6th in the world. He knew the sport was for him when he arrived on the summit just 3 hours after leaving Camp III. Nick has been climbing in Pakistan the past two years with a 2005 expedition to Gasherbrum I and II and then a successful solo climb of Gasherbrum II in 2006. He is leading an expedition on Broad Peak this summer and then flying over to Tibet in the fall to attempt Shishapangma (Xixabangma).
