Day Nineteen: Climb to Camp II Postponed; Stomach Illness; Storm

Last night, the weather in the evening changed and it snowed and rained for quite a few hours, causing me to rethink my plans for today, as I’m quite sure that the snowfall was more severe at altitude, and wading through thigh deep snow close to camp II didn’t sound like much fun to me. After a horrible night thanks to the sudden onset of the stomach illness that everyone in our base camp already had, I woke up at 8:00am, hobbled over to the mess tent, ate a few bites of my food, then returned to my tent to continue sleeping. The Russians climbed to Camp I to sleep, while Piotr, Joao, and Peter carried a load to the deposit and returned around lunch time. After quite some time sleeping in my tent, and taking some medicine for my stomach, I finally felt reasonably well enough to head back to the mess tent for lunch. Again, I picked at my food, not wanting to upset my now very delicate stomach. The weather changed in the afternoon again, with significant cloud-cover and wind. An hour later, it was snowing quite hard and the evening was made quite dramatic with a thunder and lightning storm in base camp
